<image:caption>“The Splendor of the King” The early Spring air was brisk, but the Aurora was supposed to be visible that night. I stood at the foot of the Judith Mountains, the South and North Moccasins visible to my left. As the late-night hours rolled into early-morning hours, the faint flickering of light turned to dancing streaks across the horizon and overhead. It reminded me of light reflecting on the ceiling from an indoor pool. The splendor of my King displayed for all to see. As Isaiah said thousands of years ago, “The Lord shines on you; His splendor appears over you.” Isaiah 60:2b May you also be aware of His surrounding splendor, seeing with eyes of wonder! <image:caption>"Clothed in Rainbows of Living Color” We went to check on a heifer, as it was calving season. I knew the forecast indicated the Aurora Borealis would likely make an appearance, and had plans to head out later to spend some serious time with my camera and God. I grabbed my camera bag “just in case,” because “you never know what might happen.” And I thought some bonus calving pictures could be cool. Shortly after arriving at the pasture, the sky came awake and began to display the glory and craftsmanship of God Almighty. As the sky undulated with flashes of light and color that seemed alive, we could only stand in awe and my heart understood a bit of what we see in the glimpse of Heaven in John’s recorded vision, “Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, who was and is and is to come!” (Revelation 4:8b, NJKV) May you also see His glory with eyes of wonder! For just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so my ways are higher than your ways and my thoughts higher than your thoughts.’” Isaiah 55:7-8 (NLT) My plan was for a quick trip with a friend to check on the heifer who was supposed to calve soon, then to return with my photography gear to photograph the forecasted Northern Lights. But God’s ways are greater. Having listened to the Holy Spirit, I had my camera with me. My plans for personal time with God turned into a much larger purpose, as he poured his love on my friend and me. A new experience for her. A joint time of awe and worship for us both. “For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is His love for those who fear Him.” Psalm 103:11 As you look around you with eyes of wonder, may His ways be accomplished and may you see His love displayed! <image:caption>"The Heavens are Roaring” A perfect storm on a Friday evening, a recent solar storm that resulted in a prediction of Aurora visibility event into some of the lower latitudes that rarely get to see them. A Friday evening, so I could be up all night and not worry about being able to function at work the next day. “The heavens are roaring the praise of his glory…” and roar they did! The glory of the Lord was displayed all around me, appearing to come from above, not from the horizon. No matter which direction I looked, the Aurora Borealis was on magnificent display, drowning out the lesser light of the stars. As the sun rose the next morning, I watched the visibility of the still very active Aurora fade on the western horizon. May your heart sing the praise of His glory just as the sky does, even from an unexpected direction. “The heavens declare the glory of God; the sky displays his handiwork. Day after day it speaks out; night after night it reveals his greatness. There is no actual speech or word, nor is its voice literally heard. Yet its voice echoes throughout the earth; its words carry to the distant horizon.” Psalms 19:1-4, NET Jean Adams, Eyes of Wonder Photography © 2024 “Open my eyes to see the wonderful truths in your instructions.” Psalm 119:28 Near Lewistown, MT</image:caption>

<image:caption>“A Bridge to Cross the Great Divide” A day of exploring the wonders found in the rocks and nature in Bryce Canyon, followed by an evening shooting the Milky Way in southern Utah. I was tired, but still in awe of how all of creation points to the Almighty. He who, sent His Son to be a Bridge to cross the great divide between humanity and deity. “'between us is a huge chasm that cannot be bridged, nor can anyone cross from one realm to the other, even if he wanted.’' Luke 16:26, TPT However, we are able to reach the Eternal One, “For God so loved the world that he gave his only and unique Son, so that everyone who trusts in him may have eternal life, instead of being utterly destroyed. For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but rather so that through him, the world might be saved.” John 3:16-17, CJB. <image:caption>"Let Everything that Has Breath" My muck boots were coated with muck and mire that had tried to suck them off my feet with every step I took. A recent April snowstorm had left the landscape covered in more than a foot of snow, which had started to melt, leaving the barnyard a miry, watery, mucky mess. As I walked over to do the 3 a.m. check on the heifer who was expected to calve soon, my primary goals were staying upright and in my boots. Returning safely to the pickup, I looked up again, as the sky had been filled with a magnificent Aurora display since dark the night before. In the dark and stillness, the Milky Way Core and Rho Ophiuchus were clearly visible. Out of the stillness, I could hear the heifer chewing her hay, then her lowing voice broke through the night. I was reminded, as I looked up and beheld the wonders of the night sky, where the psalmist declared, “Let everything that has breath praise the Lord!” Psalms150:6 NET, and the entirety of Psalm 148, where all creation should praise Him. My heart rose in worship, as I looked up from the muck below me to the glory and wonders of His creation above me. Because of His great power and incomparable strength, not a single one is missing.” (Isaiah 40:26, NLT) And He knows ME and the number of hairs on my head. <image:caption>"Draw Near” I took an evening away from a business conference to spend time under the stars. As I set my equipment up in an area that was unfamiliar to me. A line of abandoned cottages that appeared to be a remnant from Montana’s mining past, likely company housing. But as I looked up, and focused on the sky beyond, my camera screen showed that which I could not see with my naked eyes – that which had been set in place on Day Four. I was reminded of the scripture’s call to draw near and seek Him with all of my heart. When we do that, He brings freedom from exile and the chains that bind us. “Then you will call on Me and you will come and pray to Me, and I will hear [your voice] and I will listen to you. Then [with a deep longing] you will seek Me and require Me [as a vital necessity] and [you will] find Me when you search for Me with all your heart. I will be found by you,’ says the Lord, ‘and I will restore your fortunes and I will [free you and] gather you from all the nations and from all the places where I have driven you,’ says the Lord, ‘and I will bring you back to the place from where I sent you into exile.’” Jerimiah 29:12-14. In the secret, in the quiet hour, I wait; only for You – ’cause I want to know You more!” Time under the stars is time to seek the maker of the stars. My heart cries with the psalmist: “Let all that I am wait quietly before God, for my hope is in Him. He alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress where I will not be shaken.” Psalms 62:5-6 The northern summer sky reveals the Northern Arm of the Milky Way, the Andromeda Galaxy, and a surprise showing by the Aurora Borealis. The heavens truly proclaim the glory of God; the skies display his craftsmanship and majesty – for all who look up to see. As you wait quietly for him, may you eyes be filled with the wonder of his handiwork on display.
